I have a big role in the execution of these shoots, and am responsible for everything from location scouting, to shooting, to post-production and publishing. Most are done start to finish in about 4 days.

Here’s a recent photo from a shoot with a lovely young lady. I don’t love it. Not her fault at all–she’s a great model, hit a killer pose. There’s just something missing for me. I’ve still got some figuring out to do when it comes to my fashion photography at times.

Any suggestions?

When attending Photoshop World, you’re encouraged to enter up to three of your best works into the Guru Awards. This was my fifth Photoshop World, and the third time I’ve been a finalist, or top three. You’re notified that you’re a GURU finalist about 10 days before the conference starts.

I honestly was a little surprised to be notified that this photo montage (made up of 4 different images) was a top 3 finalist, but happy. And when my name was called during the Photoshop World D.C. keynote as the winner, I was ecstatic. Not even the fact that they got my name wrong on the trophy could temper my excitement. But no worries, a new trophy is already in the mail to me.

In a few days I’ll do a quick post explaining how this image was done.

In two days I’m having the above images critiqued at Photoshop World. This will be the third time I’ve had an official critique, with an unofficial critique given by Zack Arias in a Starbucks at Mandalay Bay in 2010 (by far the most valuable–changed my approach to photography).

I feel pretty confident with these images (sized small for this post)–a good variety. Of course, there’s always room for improvement; that’s why we get critiqued. I’ll update this post with what the critic said after it’s all over.

Any thoughts? Should I take any out? I’m considering removing the flaming hoop portrait…

Recently had a fantastic session with a local multi-talented young lady. Got this powerful shot, along with a few nice high-fashion style shots. She was a great model & a blast to work with.

Got this look with two lights, both behind and to either side of her. Silver reflector in front. Spray bottle to make her sweaty, and having the water droplets fly off and be highlighted by the flash was a nice bonus.

might be my new favorite portrait. competing strongly with another from the session.
